Anzac Day
Hello, hello!
A quick up-date–earlier than the usual two month information gap!–in honour of new website which will be up and running a week today: May 2nd , the Day of Days when Reading Magic finally hits the shops in Australia. (The USA edition will be in USA stores in late August/early September.)
I’m now in such a state of nerves that I feel like clawing back very copy of Reading Magic and burying them all in the back garden. A new book makes me feel fearfully exposed and vulnerable, and I long to hide. It’s as if it could turn around and bite me. Oooh.
I leave this afternoon for my 62nd visit to the USA. I’ll be back in two weeks and am home for only four days before going off again on the Australian book tour. I hope I’ll meet see some of you in the next month or so, in one country or the other. I adore meeting people. It’s better than writing any day.
My parents are at the current height of my anxiety level and I have just said a “last” goodbye to my beloved dad for the umpteenth time. I say a “last” goodbye to him every night when I leave him, just in case. My darling mum is so much on my mind that Reading Magic pales into insignificance by comparison. I can’t be entirely happy unless all the members of my family and all my friends are entirely happy too, which means happiness is rarely caught and held for long. Fame and fortune have nothing to do with happiness, I’ve discovered.
Enough, enough! Let’s smile when we can, and hope that this crazy world smiles with us.
All the best!
