Hello one and all! Thank you for your kind messages about my darling dad.
We have a garden fertiliser here called Bounce Back. My feeling is that someone sprinkled Bounce Back all over Dad and watered him well. He has taken a turn towards Continuing Life.
My middle sister Jan, who lives in Italy, came to Australia for his expected death and funeral. Neither happened and she has had to go back, in some anguish, as you may imagine. And tomorrow I leave again for the USA, and again Dad seems to be teetering, but I have said goodbye to him so many times in the last month and have sat beside him so often, telling him all the things I ever wanted to tell, that I feel calm about leaving.
I wouldn’t have missed this last month for anything. I experienced some of the most transcendental moments in my life sitting with my dad at night, breathing with him and for him in the quiet of his room. The serenity was amazing and beautiful and unexpected.
Not much else has happened. The rest of us are thriving! I just needed to update this before my travels to LA, San Francisco, Washington DC, Detroit, Toronto, Myrtle Beach, Minneapolis, Rhode Island and Chicago, not in that order!
Go well in these strange and terrible times.
Much love
Mem
